Those looking for a high-mileage hybrid car, but who otherwise want something different than the ubiquitous
Toyota Prius, should consider the recently introduced midsize
Accord Hybrid sedan. Its 2.0-liter 141-horsepower four-cylinder gasoline engine teams with an electric motor-generator to generate the equivalent of 196 horses, with fuel economy that nearly equals the sluggish Prius’ lofty mark; best of all it otherwise looks and feels like a “normal” car. As in the standard Accord, the Hybrid’s interior is spacious and comfortable, with voluminous rear legroom; an Active Noise Cancellation system helps the car maintain a quiet ride. Advanced features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot, lane-departure, and collision-warning systems, and a multi-view rear backup monitor.
