2015 Subaru Forester
Base-price range: $23,045 – $29,345

The Subaru Forester is a compact-sized package with midsize-class passenger space, cargo room, and available power. After a model-year 2014 redesign, Forester undergoes only minor updates for 2015. A rearview camera becomes standard across the board while heated front seats are now included on the high-performance XT model. All Foresters come standard with all-wheel drive (AWD) and horizontally opposed “Boxer” four-cylinder engines. The base engine has 170 horsepower while the sporty XT is turbocharged and has 250 horsepower. In some tests, the XT model provided faster 0-60-mph acceleration of less than 6.5 seconds, which is quicker than a four-cylinder BMW X1 crossover. All Foresters are extremely roomy for passengers and cargo. Its 41.7 inches of rear legroom and maximum cargo capacity of 74.7 cubic feet blow away other compact-class crossovers and rival many midsize ones. It also rides and handles quite well and is available with Subaru’s unique EyeSight camera system that serves as a forward-collision-warning system. Top off these attributes with the brand’s reputation for reliability and strong resale value, and you have an easy choice as a Best Crossover.
