2015 Lincoln Navigator/Navigator L
Base-price range: $62,475 – $68,215
Navigator and the extended-wheelbase Navigator L are the luxury siblings of the
Ford Expedition and
Expedition EL. Like the Expedition, Navigator sees a number of updates for 2015, including revised styling and a new engine. Its previous V-8 engine is replaced by a 380-horsepower turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6. Maximum towing capacity is 9,000 pounds. EPA estimated fuel economy of 16-18 mpg city/highway combined only matches that of the rival Cadillac Escalade, a large luxury SUV that has a V-8 engine with 40 more horsepower. Navigator’s updated interior is a strange mix of
Ford Fusion style high-tech instrumentation with old-school F-150 secondary controls. You can mask this somewhat by ordering the optional Reserve Package, which includes high-end Ziricote trim, a brand of wood typically found on yachts. Navigator might look like a land yacht, but it drives surprisingly well for its size, with a smooth ride and decent handling. Interior room and comfort are first-rate, just like the Expedition. The enhancements this large luxury SUV received for 2015 were much needed, but we still think the Expedition offers more for your money.
