Rated by cradle-to-grave pollution, here are the 11 cleanest crossover SUVs for 2015

6. Nissan Rogue – Going Rogue

Green Score: 44
Fuel economy rating (EPA city/highway combined): 28 mpg
Base price range: $23,675-$30,515

Redesigned last year and continuing with only modest changes for 2015, the Rogue remains an amenable and efficient compact crossover SUV. Featuring bold exterior styling and a handsome and accommodating interior, it can hold a spacious 32 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seatbacks in place or 70.0 with them folded flat. A third-row seat is offered, but it’s tight quarters and eats dramatically into the cargo capacity. The Rogue comes nicely powered by an efficient 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that nets a willing 170-horsepower; it comes mated to a gearless CVT automatic transmission that, while it maximizes power and fuel economy, tends to bring on all the engine power at once, and harshly at that. All-wheel-drive is optional, though most buyers will suffice with the standard front-drive arrangement. Myriad available safety systems include a 360-degree backup monitor with moving object detection, as well as blind spot, lane departure and forward collision warning systems. Note that Nissan also continues to sell the previous-generation model at a somewhat lower price (and with a lower green score) as the Rogue Select.
