2015 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4
Base price: $237,250
When you think about the term ‘
sports car’, one of the first names that come to mind is inevitably Lamborghini. The Huracan is the Italian legend’s new “entry-level” model, but the numbers that go with this exotic mid-engine, all-wheel drive two-seater are anything but “entry-level.” The Huracan features a 5.2-liter V-10 delivering 601-horsepower and is based on the same unit that was in the Gallardo that the Huracan has now replaced, although a lot of work has gone into updating the engine to deliver even more power and performance. The transmission in the Huracan is a highly-rated seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual, which is said to be both slick and quick. The official line states a top speed of 202 mph, and 0-62 mph comes up in just 3.5 seconds, but some testers claim to have done 0-60 in as little as 2.5 seconds and gone on to top speeds in excess of the official rating. That V-10 power is sent to all four wheels through a new electronically controlled center differential, which is another notable upgrade over the viscous center coupling of the Gallardo. The Huracan offers a comfortable driving position with plenty of room and comforts such as navigation and electrically-operated heated seats.
