Fusion Energi. The plug-in Sonata bests its rivals for range, boasting 27 miles of pure electric driving (versus 13, 11, and 20, respectively) and 600 miles total when paired with its 2.0-liter gasoline engine (versus 570, 540, and 550, respectively). Combined output from the Sonata’s gas/electric drivetrain is a healthy 202 horsepower, giving this sedan surprising scoot in any driving situation. Combine this sophisticated drivetrain with a suite of safety and connectivity features, along with Hyundai’s excellent warranty coverage, and you have a vehicle that’s poised to be a success in this burgeoning category.
