Talk about upsetting the luxury car apple cart. This midsize hatchback has brought together high-rolling techies and gearheads like no other.

Range anxiety is not in the Model S’ lexicon. No other pure-electric vehicle for sale delivers more: 208-253 miles, depending on which size battery pack you order. And order is the operative word because you won’t be able to just walk into a Tesla store and grab one from the showroom floor. Expect to wait a minimum of three months from the time you place your order until you can drive it home. When you do, you will definitely want to take the long way. Acceleration is supercar quick, with 0-60 mph coming in at about 3 seconds. Handling is superb thanks to its electrically controlled all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. Tesla was a risk when it first launched, but the rewards have been nothing short of staggering, both for luxury-car shoppers and the company itself.
